Welcome to the website of the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition. Here you will find all the background information about the event as well of details of how your choir can apply for entry to the 2009 competition.

This year, as well the main competition on Saturday 21st November at the Royal Northern College of Music, there will be a new, MACC: Youth Choirs competition, which will take place the following day on Sunday 22nd November, also at the RNCM.

Please note that the application process for the 2009 competitions is now open. Application forms can be downloaded from the Registration section of this website.

The inaugural MACC competition took place on Saturday 22nd November 2008 at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Fifteen choirs from all over the country took part in what was an exciting and inspiring day. Images from the event at the RNCM as well as some of the choirs singing at St Ann's Square and at the Manchester Museum can be found on the 'MACC 08' section of this website. The winners last year were Bolton's Cottontown Chorus, followed in second place by Saddleworth Male Voice Choir and in third place by Arden Youth Choir. Congratulations to not only these choirs but to all of those who took part for their enthusiasm and hard work.
