Competition Format

This year, the MACC will take place on Sunday 21st November and the MACC: Youth Choirs on Sunday 5th December, both at the RNCM.

Choirs taking part in the Adult competition in 2009 also had the opportunity to sing for the general public at external venues in the city centre centre, whilst those taking part in the Youth Choirs competition on 22nd were offered vocal workshops on the day, courtesy of the RNCM Outreach Department.

The MACC 2009 competitions began at 11am and the days were split into segments, divided by morning and afternoon breaks and a lunch period, with the individual choral performances divided between them. The Judge's decision and presentation took place at the end of the event, mid/late afternoon.

External Performances
On 21st November, during the half of the day when individual adult choirs are not singing at the RNCM, they performed at two external venues in Manchester; the Arndale Centre and the Xmas Market in St Ann's Square.

Venue
The venue for the MACC 2009 and 2008 was the Royal Northern College of Music, both for its long and distinguished association with the promotion of music, its acoustically-designed auditoriums and it’s accessibility in terms of disability and transport links from the city centre.
