Competition

Date of the 2008 Competition
The date of the inaugural MACC is Saturday 22nd November 2008. The day will begin at 10am and be split into four segments, divided by morning and afternoon breaks and a lunch period, with the individual choral performances divided between them. The Judge's decision and presentation will take place at around 5pm. The winning choir will receive an engraved trophy and some free recording time, courtesy of Harlequin Recording. Further details of the day’s schedule will be posted nearer the time..

Competition Judges
The Judges for the 2008 competition are:

2) Trish Baillie, Head of Voice, School of Theatre, Manchester Metropolitan University

3) Alice Dennis, Chorus Master, Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society

4) Jeffrey Lawton, Senior Lecturer, School of Vocal Studies, RNCM

External Performances
During the half of the day when individual choirs are not singing at the RNCM they will be performing at two external venues in Manchester; the Manchester Museum and the Xmas Market in Albert Square. Full schedules for these perfomances will be posted nearer the time.

Venue
The venue for the MACC will be the Royal Northern College of Music, both for its long and distinguished association with the promotion of music, its acoustically-designed auditoriums and it’s accessibility in terms of disability and transport links from the city centre.
