Established in 2008, the Manchester Annual Choral Competition (MACC) is an annual competition in which choirs from across the UK and overseas are invited to compete in a spirit of creativity and community. The MACC usually begins mid-morning and the day is split into segments, divided by a lunch period, with the individual choral performances in both halves. The judge's decision and trophy presentation takes place at the end of each event, late afternoon, preceded by a performance from the previous competition's winning choir. The Venue for the MACC is the Royal Northern College of Music, both for its long and distinguished association with the promotion of music, its acoustically-designed auditoriums and it’s accessibility in terms of disability and transport links from the city centre.
